Weekly film analysis-Attitude Era

Attitude Era is an hour long documentary made by WWE Studios which looks back at the highlights and developments of the WWF/WWE during a time period in the late 90s known as 'the attitude era'. The documentary was probably made due to high fan demand and to compare the era to the modern era of WWE which is much more family friendly and different. The documentary definitely gives off that impression. Directed by WWE creative head Kevin Dunn, the film pushes its boundaries as to what it can show and in some cases it is rather surprising that the company would present this to its current audience.

The narration is done very well as it is mainly done by wrestlers that wrestled in that time period, so it is an exclusive view inside what it was like to be a part of the events that were occurring on the screen. The documentary almost provides a nostalgic viewpoint and it represents all parties and all manners in a fair and just way.

The content of the documentary is extremely entertaining for the viewer. It features some of the most outrageous scenes ever to be broadcasted on TV. These include various scenes of nudity, near-life ending stunts and wrestlers spraying beer into others' faces. At the same time it is great at being very informative.

The music used is good as it suits the tone and genre and is not too loud or too subtle. The documentary also uses a lot of views from the fans. It is once again interesting to see how the genre of fan has changed between that era and this era. The funding came straight from WWE and since it is a very rich company, there would have been no problem at all in terms of spending money on this. Originally, the documentary was released on DVD but since has been made available to stream on the WWE Network, a streaming service made available by WWE in 2014.
