Weekly film analysis-Mother!

Mother is a movie released in September 2017. It is directed and written by Darren Aranofsky who previously made The Wrestler and Noah. It is a very complex movie with a lot of twists and thought provoking story implications. Throughout the whole movie, the viewer is left second-guessing things and wondering how the movie will conclude. The genre can be considered drama, mystery and horror. It doesn't have many typical conventions of a genre. There is some tension and jump-scares in it, along with some blood and gory scenes. The big twist at the end mad the film very much worth watching and turned it into a true masterpiece.
Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, two very well known film stars were both outstanding in this film. Javier Bardem proved what he can do in No Country for old Men and he exceeded that performance in this movie. Jennifer Lawrence's emotions in this movie were amazing and you really felt sorry for her character at certain points in the movie. The music and sounds in the movie were good at increasing the mysterious effect on the audience. There were not a lot of visual effects until near the end. At the end in the fire scene, the movie looked very raw and the visuals of the mother's burnt body was enough to send chills down anybody's spine.
The movie has been nominated for 13 awards already and won one of them. The general reviews for the movie have been very good with many people calling it one of the best movies of the year.
